Angel Hair is a very fine Mylar type material that is sold in Hanks. With 6-8″strands, Angel Hair can be used for those big old billfish flies, cut it up for dubbing your small trout flies, or just to add a little glitter to your old standbys. Tied in baitfish patterns like deceivers and clousers, Angel Hair seems to come alive in the water.
But don’t overlook using this material in salmon, steelhead, bass and panfish flies. Angel Hair blends well with most other materials for dubbing, and it doesn’t absorb water so large flies don’t get heavier. Favorite patterns for saltwater are Angel Hair Needle Fish and Angel Hair Black Sardinas. Favorite freshwater patterns are Angel Hair Halfbacks and Leech’s. If you need synthetic material that sparkles and glitters it just doesn’t get any better than Angel Hair!
